Migrating from Zoho CRM to Salesforce: What Australian Teams Should Plan For

A practical Zoho-to-Salesforce migration guide, data mapping, automation rebuilds, integrations, and when the move is (and isn’t) worth it.

Most of our work is helping teams onto Zoho. Sometimes the right move is the other way: Zoho CRM to Salesforce. Common triggers: enterprise parent company standards, an AppExchange requirement Zoho can’t meet, or a sales ops team already fluent in Salesforce. Treat it as a programme, not an export/import weekend.

Who this is for: Australian businesses on Zoho CRM evaluating Salesforce, or mid-migration and discovering that modules, automations, and integrations don’t map one-to-one.

What goes wrong: lifting every Zoho custom field into Salesforce “just in case”; assuming Zoho Books or Desk integrations have Salesforce twins; rebuilding broken Zoho process instead of redesigning; underestimating sandbox testing; cutting Zoho before Salesforce reports match; forgetting users need training on a denser UI.

Plan in layers: (1) Inventory Zoho modules, fields, picklists, attachments, and related lists, mark used vs dead. (2) Map Zoho Leads/Contacts/Accounts/Deals to Salesforce Leads/Contacts/Accounts/Opportunities; Zoho’s model isn’t identical. (3) Export and clean, dedupe, fix owners, normalise phones/states. (4) Rebuild automation in Flow/Apex only where the business rule still matters. (5) Replace integrations (Books, Desk, forms, marketing) with Salesforce-native or middleware. (6) Parallel run, then cutover.

DIY only if volumes are small, customisation is light, and you have Salesforce admin capacity. Hire specialists when you have years of history, heavy Deluge, multi-app Zoho stack, or compliance needs around data retention during cutover.

Checklist: document why Salesforce must win (one paragraph); list Zoho automations that actually fire; list every integration; decide retention for Zoho (read-only archive period); define parallel-run success metrics; name owners for data, automation, and training.
